Hi fellow pilots, I fly with the German Army Aviation as an instructor pilot and was 'lasered' about two weeks ago by a green handheld laser. I was not insured had just some eye irritation for a couple of days. Worse was the blinding during the attack - but as I was on an ILS final with my student I coupled the autopilot (EC 135) and made it through that area safely. A police helicopter was deployed but never caught anybody. So far to my story. After that I read a lot about those incidents and found out, that they occur on a daily bases in Germany but also in the US. I got a hold on some glasses, sold by a US company called NoIR and am about to test them. They are slightly tinted so I am not sure how useful they are when flying unaided at night. So the main reason I wrote all this is to give you a heads up that there is something like that on the market. They were built for and tested by the LAPD helicopter squad and it seems to cost about 150 $. The secondary reason for the posting is the question if anybody of you guys already flew with them and can give me some information about the usability during night flight. Stay safe - stay out of the beam, Norbert
